Gay Teens in Time Magazine
Time magazine's John Cloud wrote a cover article entitled The Battle Over Gay Teens. I met John when he attended the Point Foundation retreat where he interviewed a number of the young people featured in his piece. In speaking with him a few weeks after the retreat, he explained that his goal was to give gay teens as much airspace as possible in order to tell their stories (that means he had to cut out some of us older queers).
Although I have not yet gotten my hands on the magazine to read the whole article (and see the lovely photos taken by Katja Heinemann who took this photo of me!) I imagine it will be thoughtful and insightful.
John even attended the Exodus conference and provides first hand accounts of his time.
Also, when you get a chance, check out the excellent website/blog of Keith Boykin, the speaker and co-author of Beyond the Downlow, Sex, Lies, and Denial in Black America. I find he provides a clear voice in the midst of a predominately white controlled gay media.

Hopefully this insight that is being provided by Time Magazine isn't too controversial. I haven't read the article yet.
How interesting that Time choose a handsome white gay boy for the cover. I hope the article investigates the breadth of diversity and experience among gay teens.
Rob, yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I saw the cover. I know at the Point Foundation John Cloud interviewed most of the participants. Women and people of color were represented at this event. I've only just arrived home, so I have yet to get my hands on the piece to look at it in depth.
The issues of race and white male power and privilege within the queer community is something that I feel needs a lot of attention.
Hey, that guy kind of looks like my cousin Randy. We suspect he's gay, but he's never actually confirmed it... just wears fabulous clothes and doesn't date girls........ *shrug* Ah well, thanks for alerting us to this. Perhaps my father will get a copy of it and I'll be able to borrow it.
FYI...just saw this in a comment at XGW
a bit more about the cover boy
